About GDYGA
The Greater Dayton Youth Golf Academy (GDYGA) is a non-profit
organization founded in 1989. It's all volunteer staff teaches
girls and boys from age 8 to 18 to play golf and to have the
integrity, courtesy, and mental discipline, found in learning
the game of golf.
As a family based organization; fund raising events, private
donations, and minimal membership fees finance our entire
program.
GDYGA welcomes children of all races, creeds and economic
backgrounds. They learn the rules of the game, the customs and
courtesies on the course, respect for the individual, and to
always be supportive of another's best efforts.
Lessons are taught by knowledgeable, volunteer instructors
with the help of Dayton area PGA and USGTF professionals.
Students are encouraged to participate in junior tournaments
throughout the Midwest. With the generous support of the City of
Dayton, in the use of it's Northwest Recreation Center, Madden
and Kittyhawk facilities, the practice and learning schedule
keeps participants busy year round.
While this current schedule is well structured, the full
potential of this program is restricted. GDYGA hopes to develop
and maintain an active, year round golf facility for youth. This
would provide a driving range, putting greens, practice bunkers,
indoor practice areas, classrooms, adequate offices, a golf shop
and other areas normally associated with learning golf and an 18
hole golf course designed specifically for youths to learn how
to play the game. Most importantly, we'll offer access to the
game, thereby encouraging individual growth.
DONATIONS TO SUPPORT THE YOUTH AND
PROGRAM ARE NEEDED TO SUPPORT OUR EFFORTS.
